Building Information Modeling

Practice Overview

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is gaining acceptance with owners and design and construction professionals as a superior approach to project delivery. BIM targets traditional inefficiencies in the construction process by linking a project’s design to construction means and methods in a graphically rich and technically accurate environment.  BIM is a process simulation tool that is predictive in nature. As such, its primary value lies in its ability to identify changes at a time when changes are inexpensive to make.

A/E/C Strategy’s Building Information Modeling service assists owners to reduce total project cost by minimizing field changes, enabling more effective communication of the project execution plan to all project team members, promoting collaboration and increasing the likelihood of on-time completion.

A/E/C Strategy offers virtual construction services that can run parallel to the traditional design and construction contracting process, thus providing the benefits of BIM without disrupting the flow of existing business practices. A/E/C Strategy’s services include:

  • Converting existing 2D designs into 3D models
  • Coordinating design and construction information including vendor data and shop drawings
  • Preparing “clash” reports to identify interfering elements
  • Linking 3D models to CPM schedules (4D schedules) to coordinate construction phasing, sequence and logistics
  • Attributing 3D models with facility management data

3D and 4D modeling can also be effective tools for communicating project history and demonstrating complex technical concepts to triers of fact in adjudication proceedings. A/E/C Strategy brings to bear its extensive experience in claims consulting and expertise in BIM technology to assist its clients to achieve the best possible result in the resolution of their construction contract disputes.
